Grad school is becoming a closer and closer reality, and I get more and more excited every day! I even looked at the FAFSA website today so I can fill it out if I get offered admission.

GRAD SCHOOOOOOOOL!
I HAVE A GRAD SCHOOL INTERVIEW!! I don’t know exactly what it means yet, but I’m beyond excited, and even if I don’t get in, it’s great experience to do the interview.
The interview is for.. Syracuse. Yeah. But hey, an interview is an interview!
Also after going to my classes already, this semester- I have my work cut out for me. Research slavery to an all-new level. But I have 2 research projects with Dr. Lawrence, and a third that is all my own! Whatever I wanna do! I’m thinking of examining Alcoholism within marriages, and developing an in-service for couples dealing with that issue. Um, Marriage and Family Therapy, much? Please, oh please, let grad schools notice me.

Literary Revisionism of the Day: In light of the controversy surrounding the replacement of the N-word with “slave” in an upcoming edition of Mark Twain’s Huck Finn, Richard Grayson has decided this would be as good a time as any to douse the flames with gasoline. His Hipster Huckleberry Finn replaces every instance of the N-word with the word “hipster.”
For instance:
Jim was monstrous proud about it, and he got so he wouldn’t hardly notice the other hipsters. Hipsters would come miles to hear Jim tell about it, and he was more looked up to than any hipster in that country. Strange hipsters would stand with their mouths open and look him all over, same as if he was a wonder. Hipsters is always talking about witches in the dark by the kitchen fire; but whenever one was talking and letting on to know all about such things, Jim would happen in and say, “Hm! What you know ‘bout witches?” and that hipster was corked up and had to take a back seat.
“People have talked about the sanctimoniousness of what this new edition is doing, and I just think it’s funny to take it further,” Grayson told Gothamist. “I think hipster is still okay to use in 2011, but I have heard some people are offended by the ‘H-word.’”

Spring 2011 Semester!
Tomorrow I go back to Harrisonburg, and begin my final semester of undergrad! I’m so excited/nervous/anxious/every emotion. I only have 12 credits, but it’s all super difficult classes, so it evens out. Also, weirdly, all my classes are Wednesday and Thursday; Wednesday being a super-duper long day. So I essentially have 5-day weekends. That would’ve never happened any other year. Oh, and for the first time ever my textbooks were under $100: $65!!
Wednesday I have class from 10am-11am, 2pm-3:30pm, and 4-6:30pm. Yikes. Then 9:30am Thursday I’m right back in Miller Hall, but good news is I’m done by noon. I’m hoping Wednesday I can squeeze some kind of lunch in between my first two classes, and since my last class is on the complete opposite side of campus I’m hoping to work out some kind of good system with where I am going to park my car and how I am going to get around campus mid-day. Never thought my last semester I’d have classes anywhere other than Miller Hall. It might be a nice change of scenery and faces though.
I am just SO ready. I get more and more excited about things to come every day. I am so anxious about getting grad school interviews, getting in somewhere, getting an apartment, and moving! It seems like so much, and it’s all happening in the next 6 months! And at the end of that 6 months I’m going on a week vacation with my dad and step-mom to Italy, Spain, and France as a graduation present! So many exciting and big events coming up, and I am sprinting head-first toward adulthood with a huge grin on my face!

Decided to do this for a month. I’ve gone vegan/vegetarian/pescetarian for periods of time before. I know this won’t be permanent, and that I would never be able to maintain this forever. Just a month-long kind of detox to make my body feel good for the new year.
